Come to Dallas Safari Club convention and get one from Mims (Harry) then. You get a drink of Crown Royal with every purchase. Cool

Post Driver I think you have been slipping in a toddy or three early and it has done something to your hearing. Big Grin
Several years back one of the big honchos got a bit snuffy about me overserving some folks that came by my booth. Seems my hand straighteners were endangering the liquor lic. for the convention so I had to become much more inventive about how I did things.
I guess the city of Dallas gets the full rake off of the bar at the convention. In 2008 the State of Texas is trying to make sure all vendors that sell anything besides a hunt have a Texas State Sales Tax Lic. and collect the tax on items sold a the convention. Bah Humbug! A thousand years ago when we held the convention at D/FW (part of the booth space was part of the underground parking) everyone just got plastered and the exhibitors never shut down their booths as there was as much going on on the convention floor as there was at the banquet. It sure made for a loooooong convention and plenty of sore heads (not to mention some prime gossip later) so I must admit I am glad there is a time when we close the doors for the night and everyone goes home or someplace else for a few hours anyway.
I am not young enough to keep up with the old schedule of yesteryears.

You don't have to have any liquor to have a good time visiting Mims! I was just pulling his leg, but he does always have some decent stuff to buy in his booth! I may have to get "takedown" style TuffPac this year. I've got this little midget ladyfriend with a flat head that would fit just perfectly in one and I'd save some airfare.

JudgeG ... just counting time 'til I am again finding balm in Gilead chilled out somewhere in the Selous.

You're right, that was a long time ago! I think the last convention at the AMFAC Hotel (D/FW) was in 1983! Since then we have had one at the Dallas Covention center, and the rest at Dallas Market Hall. beer

Mac, You forgot the one at the Adams Mark Hotel! I remember it well as me and my partner overserved ourselves badly one day and left the money bag laying in the floor of the booth. The only thing that saved us was the guy next to us had some high dollar jewelry. He would put that orange plastic construction fencing around his booth at night and he had so much he just ran it around our too thank goodness! I had sold a Purdey side by side that day among other things. The swag was in the bag. Sure was glad to see that still there the next morning when we set up the booth.
Never have done anything that stupid since. You only get lucky once! I sure am glad the big guy in the sky looks after fools and drunks cause I sure leaned on him that night.
