I have a 375 Weatherby Mag rifle that a gunsmith did some work on so it can also shoot 375H&H. My question will there be any problems bringing the rifle into SA with the 375 H&H ammo?

The best answer I can come up with is probably not but I wouldn't do it. My question for you is why don't you just buy some Weatherby ammo or if you don't reload have some loaded for you by Superior Ammo or another custom loader. The 375 Weatherby is a great cartridge so why the H&H ammo?

The reason for the 375H&H ammo is because I have a surgically reconstructed shoulder and the 375H&H seems to not impact it as much.

Have an engraver change the caliber from a Weatherby designation on the barrel to H&H and get a 4457 reflecting 375 H&H and the gun's serial# and you'll be golden.

David,

Just curious...what work was required on your rifle to enable it to shoot .375 H&H? I was under the impression a .375 Weatherby rifle would chamber and fire .375 H&H without modification.

I am not exactly sure as I got the rifle from RUG, AR Member, but i believe he said some work had to be done to the receiver/action.

But i would check with a gunsmith before trying a 375H&H in a 375 Weatherby.

I would just stick the H&H ammo in the Weatherby chamber and pull the trigger. Wink

The ability to also fire H&H ammo is one of the oft-quoted virtues of the .375 Weatherby.

What you can do is load (or have loaded) the H&H equivalent load in .375 SWeatherby cases, end of both problems.

Since it is Africa it would probably turn into a problem if you took the H&H stamped ammo with the Weatherby marked rifle.
