It had lots of talking, but not a lot of walking.

500grains, I guess I should have said Boddington'd buff DVD made some good points especially for a novice like me, one buff so far. I thought Andrew was a little quick using his double with some clients. I did notice Bodding needed no back up shots from him.

Personally the Boddington DVD's have way too many advertisements for my taste. It is like a 3 hour commercial.

I much prefer the Capstick DVD's. He has one covering every member of the Big 5 as well as some plains game. They are available in a box set which is great.

My friend Kevin "Doctari" Robertson (author of The Perfect Shoot)is leaving in 6 weeks for Buffalo and Elephant hunt in Zim in order to make a DVD version of The Perfect Shot.

I think that the DVD will be quite interesting, not much bullshitting so to say -and Kevin is going to use his Dumoulin in .505 Gibbs with Ken Stewarts hard hitting 600 grains Hi Performers.

So there we have something to vait for, I only wish that I was his gunbearer or whatever stir

After watching Buzz Charlton's "Hunting the African Elephant" DVD again this week, I wondered exactly the same thing. It would be great for an equivalent DVD on cape buffalo. (PS I have seen most of the others mentioned and they are entertaining too, but not to the detail of Charlton's elephant DVD).

I couldn't agree more. While I like Boddington's writings on his African hunts both the Buff DVD and the Leopard DVD are yawners! Long on the detailed "hows" and "whys" but in an interview format. Some of the buff hunts and leopards shots I had seen on earlier productions!

Buzz's video gives the same details with more ACTION. And the format was fresh...the shot placement section I thought was brilliant and more informative than any video I have seen. Even pictures in some hunting tomes have me confused (OK I set myself up)but this video really nails shot placement and ele behaivor.

mark65x55,

Boddington's video is the best on buffalo that I have seen. I agree with the negative comments of others, but it still gives lots of good information about buffalo hunting - mostly from Andrew Dawson, who I enjoyed listening to.

I will say this though, compared to Buzz's video, Boddington's is not even close. Buzz has set a new standard. Lots of action and great information.

Hi Mark,

A DVD I can recommend is titled "As the Dust Settles" - it features a number of Buff hunts including some very good charge footage - it's real hunting not animal porno like some other (in)famous titles.

You can preview the footage at www.africanhuntersguild.com go to the special features menu and select "safari footage"

This one is a good one, not quite as educational as the Boddington DVD, but with more action

http://www.huntersvideo.dk/index.php?partnerid=&lang=UK&pt=videos&video_id=3

The webpage has some nice footage from the DVD...

The PH in the above DVD is Rainer Jösch. He also has a video (DVD?) out about hunting buffalo in the mountains of Northern TZ. I have seen the video, but I don't know where to source it, maybe somebody else can help?? In any event, the video is nice because the hunting is done totally on foot (no safari vehicle), plus the fact the buff is hunted in such heavy cover.

In German, the title of the video is "Der Bergbüffel" (Mountain Buffalo). Here is a link to an eBay page for one that was (already) sold - but at least it contains a picture of the video...
