Tonto,

There's big Bass Pro Shop near Norcross at I-85 and Sugarloaf Parkway. There's also a nice little gun shop in Norcross called David's Gun Room, but don't expect to find any safari-type guns there.

Other than that, we are short on shops that sell really nice guns, with one major exception: in Buckhead there is an upper-end gun shop called Chuck's. They sell a lot of Pre-'64s (REAL Pre-'64s), Dakotas, Merkels, and a whole boat load of fine shotguns (like Parkers and L.C. Smiths).

They are on a back road in Buckhead at 281 Buckhead Ave. If you are not familiar with Atlanta, I'd call them at (404)266-1250 for directions.

When you call, ask for Steve Langford. If he is not there, don't even bother to go. Steve is a nice guy who will let you fondle guns to your heart's content. The other guy (the owner) is a jerk, who won't give you the time of day unless he thinks there's a sale to be made.

Hope this helps.

Lawrenceville is about ten miles away from Norcross (mostly interstate), and Bullseye gun range on the squre in L'ville rents full-autos.

MP5, M16/9mm, Uzi, Thompson, AK-47, and probably some others I'm forgetting.

Gun rentals are $10, range time is about $10/hour. Got to use their ammo, but they sell cheap remanufactured ammo.

They're open late; call (and probably Mapquest) for directions. There are a bunch of one-way streets around there, and it's confusing even for the locals.

Great fun for $1 a second...

P.M. me and maybe I'll meet you over there.

Pertinax

P.S. If you notice the large typical courthouse in the square, that's where Larry Flynt was shot. Just a bit of local, ugly trivia.

I went to college in Atlanta but have been gone so long that the places I visited are probably not there anymore. There used to be a pawn shop on Euclid Ave. They dealt in new and used guns. Also there was a great shop in Lavonia but that is almost up on the South Carolina line.

What about CZ Connections? That's their "screen name". If you do a Google search, you should find them. I bought both my CZ 550 magnums from them.

Peter,

The CZ Connection that you see on Gunbroker.com is a tiny - I mean tiny store front. They do the vast bulk of their business via the internet. But they claim to be the #1 CZ dealer in the US! Their store front is located at Smoketree Shoping Center, 4771 Britt Rd Suite E-5 in Norcross. Pay them a visit. I am sure they can set you up with a sweet deal on a CZ. Hoepfully at 2004 prices. Hugh

Hugh W. You are correct. I bought both my CZ's by visiting the store, as I was in Atlanta anyway. Not your traditional gunshop by any means, but they have a lot of stuff and are quite friendly. They also had a lot of non CZ hardware.

Wyo Joe Do you have contact info for the shop in Lovonia? I have to go through Lovonia on my way to deer camp a half dozen times a year. It is about the time I need to stop and get a stretch and a leak as I pass through.
Yep the CZ store is tiny alright. But they do have several guns on hand most of the time. It is not like they keep a dozen racks full for your fondling pleasure though. I bought my 416 R there a few years back. Good people to deal with.

Although cartridge selection is important there is nothing that will substitute for proper first shot placement. Good hunting, "D"

Has Bargain Barn reopened after their big fire? It's not in Atlanta but certainly is a very popular hunting and gun store for those that do live there. Another nearby store that is well worth the drive is Franklin's in Athens. Both of these stores are huge and market their products into Atlanta and beyond with prices that draw in customers from well outside their immediate markets.

Bullseye in Lawrenceville has some interesting tactical weapons, but, as stated, is a little out of the way.

Franklins is over near my area (about an hour away) and has a huge selection. I have seen some larger caliber stuff there - bought most of my rifles there. I frequent there, and once they get to know you, you cease to pay sticker on just about anything.

Also, just around the corner from Franklins (literally) is a place called The Shooting Range or something. They rent full autos.

Good luck,
Jason
