My apologies to all if this post is in the wrong area but, here goes.

I'm going to Tanzania with the family. Game includes: Buffalo, Hartebeest, Wildebeest, Impala, Grants Gazelle, Warthog, Zebra. I'm taking a .375 H&H for Buff and .30-06 for the rest. Don't have the ability to experiment alot with handloads so I'd like thoughts on the effectiveness of the following bullets I have "in stock":

.375 H&H

300 gr Barnes solid vs 300 gr. Hornady FMJ

300 gr. Barnes TSX vs. 300 gr. Nosler Partition

.30-06

180 gr. Barnes TSX vs. 180 gr. Nosler Part.

130 gr. Barnes TSX vs. 130 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip (This is reduced recoil load for my 11 year old. Impala, Gazelle, Warthog only)

Thanks in advance for your comments.

In my opinion all the bullets you mention are adequate for the job, shoot whichever goes down you barrels the best. If none of those perform up to your expections, try the North Fork bullets, they will fit the bill for toughness and accuracy. wave Good luck and good shooting.

Having shot the Barnes at stateside game only (wild boar and whitetail) I can only comment on how the Barnes performed in tissue. The TSX expanded on whitetail and held together thru the gristle plate and spine of the boar. I think it should work on plains game and buff........JJ

I have used both Barnes and Noslers...Both work well... I would use the TSX for the buffalo and the 180 gr. Noslers 30-06 for everything else....

I agree!

My Hornady FMJ ecapsulated failed totally in 460 Weath. but the Barnes Solids of a friend of mine did a good job on buffalo in 375!

You should test if the 300gr TBBC shot together with Barnes banded solids!
