I have three questions about the CZ 550 American Safari Magnum stock in .458 Lott In putting in crossbolts to reinforce the stock should i 1) go with one or two crossbolts 2) where exactly should they go and 3) Should they be steel ? A gunsmith mentioned that they mostly use copper crossbolts.

Two crossbolts, steel bedding, and relieve the stock behind the tang.

A photo of a top quality big bore will reveal where.

But if your gunsmith does not know where, then get a new gunsmith!!

YES. You can get Talley steel crossbolts. I think Brownells sells them still.

Would you do this to the same rifle in 375 or 416?

Would you do it to one of the laminate stocked 458 Lotts?

Or is the Laminate stock, which is tougher than either regualar wood or fiberglass tough enough to deal with it.

My smith added 2 cross bolts on my cz lott (was a win mag). It comes with the one through the pistol grip. It is also bedded and the barrel lug is bedded and any plastic bits around the barrel lug retaining nut where swapped out for steal as I remeber there was a plastic spacer there I think.

2.5 Lupe is probably perfect for that 458 Lott. I am going to go with an Aimpoint when I get another CZ magnum.

If they hold up to the recoil they would work well and have fast target aquisition.

Any sight that can take 20,000-30,000 rounds on an a AR-15 or a SAW is tought enough for any 458 Lott that walks.
