No state commands such fierce pride and loyalty. Lesser mortals are pitied for their misfortune in not being born in Texas.— Queen Elizabeth II on her visit to Texas in May, 1991.

Charles_HelmVery sorry to hear this. My deepest condolences to his family.

LR3Terrible shock! I had done some writing with him and his insights and comments were invaluable. I know he was also working on some books himself including his families long involvement with San bushmen. Always had Fascinating stories and I was looking forward to more interesting reading apart from his classics on African rifles.
He told me he had shrapnel and a plate from his army head injuries that troubled him. For somebody who had dyslexia his writing skills and style was extraordinary.

Barry GroulxThis in a nutshell sums up Don Heath. He was always looking for ways to help other folks, and went out of his way to help anyone he could. His family was very fortunate to have had such a man for a husband and father. RIP Don, and sincere condolences to Sheila, Johanna and Iain, and Mrs Heath, Don's Mom.

FrostbitI have always thought the best measure of a man is how the community he is part of remembers him at his passing.
Reading the previous posts I would say Mr. Heath will rest in peace.
Condolences to those he left behind.

editor-antThanks for posting my little video... The full text of a tribute to Don, by Ira and myself, can be seen on the site -
www.africanhunteronline.com.
From our site... "Don would be disappointed in me - and probably all those who knew him - if I allowed myself to dwell on the grief of the moment. And while I am aggrieved, I prefer to remember the aspects of his life which made him the man he was. To this end, and aside from the videos on Youtube of Don sharing his wealth of hunting knowledge, I append a short clip of Don demonstrating some unique anti-tracking techniques only he seemed capable of. The video was shot during a visit we made together to the AccurateRelaoding headquarters in Dubai - the unmistakable laugh clearly that of Saeed, while Walter plays along. We both had a go with T-Rex too - as not to have done so would have been sacrilege (and the weapon did not disappoint) - among other weapons. Shooting was Don’s passion... I know this inclusion would have made him smile."
You will be missed.

We should auction them. I'm sure they would bring much higher prices if everyone knew where the proceeds were going.
