Is anyone considering cancelling their African hunt for 2020 due to the spreading Chinese Coronavirus?

Is anyone not booking for 2020 due to the Chinese Coronavirus?

No.

From my experience with the bloody Chinks over seas, I would be very happy if they stayed home and never travel abroad.

Mannerless idiots, wherever one meets them.

At Dar airport I was waiting in line for my turn at the immigration desk, my turn came, and just as I was handing my passport to the officer, two bloody Chines jumped the line, and put their passports ahead of me. I grabbed the passports and stuck them onto the man's chest, saying "there is a bloody line there, go and stand in it for your turn"

He looked at me as if I was from another planet.

The officer processed my passport, and I walked up the stairs to the departure lounge, and looked back.

The two Chinamen were still standing by the immigration desk!

Heading over this Friday. Are any risks greater with Coronavirus about ? Probably, but if not this then possibly it would be something else. Easy to find reasons to say at home if you want to.
Not to say I'm not concerned. I am a little. But hunting opportunity is infrequent and too important. I have only ever postponed one hunt in 2019 due to knee surgery. I couldn't handle the hill so there was no point going. The outfitter was excellent about it and I do that hunt later this year.

Hunting.... it's not everything, it's the only thing.

In fact, spoke to Alan a couple of days ago, and told him we are going to be 6 hunters this year.

We have two friends from Sweden to enjoy an African safari.

And so as not to give the impression that I do not like Chinese, I asked our chef to prepare Chinese Crispy Duck for dinner tonight!

With pancakes and plum sauce, absolutely delicious! clap

LOL so true about the Chinese!!

I met people from every part of the World in my life and despite not speaking the same language it is possible through smiles, facial expressions, laughs, gestures, etc to connect and get along with them...not so with the Chinese. To me they are an alien specie...I could never figure out what they find humorous, offensive, what they like or dislike, how they feel about issues, etc. Almost like they are robotic. They seem to have no expressions of happiness, besides a fake smile nor do they show any anger or annoyance. What do their women find attractive in a man?? Neither sexes seem to show any emotion.

They dress the same, cut their hair the same, same style eyeglasses...there is no individuality. Their hygiene is bad as well.

Funny you brought this up Saeed, because I wondered these things for a long time now.

No, although I am not going to Africa, I will still mostly likely travel out of the country.

I had to laugh at Alfredo's and Saeed's post about the Chinese. I live in a small, and I mean a very small ranching community. There is not a lot going on here but we do live near the main highway that takes you to Yellowstone park. We have a lot of Chinese people travel through here and vacation there. They love stopping at our small mom and pop convenience store (filling station). Some of them come in, plug in their rice cookers and prepare their lunch (without buying anything of course). They use the restrooms, stop and smoke, and usually never ever buy anything. No manners whatsoever.......

I'm pleased that my normal countenance seems to have a look of a menacing biker. Not purposeful but just my normal look. Wife keeps telling me to smile and I tell her "I am". Mustache (think of Paul Tuttle on Orange County Choppers) and normal seemingly unfriendly look prevents mothers with babies and snowflakes from sitting next to me on Southwest.

Also helps on the bench with malcontents and Chinese nationals from Joburg to Harare.

No, not for hunting.

However, I canceled a trip to international smart farming conference in Düsseldorf, Germany in early March for my farm managers. They were concerned about the virus and there are a lot of people from the Far East attend that conference.

They'll go next year.

Ought to start calling it Pangolin's revenge. have heard that as well. If it's true, there's a bit of irony in it given the wildlife trade.

I was underground in a cave in Namibia last summer with one of my sons, and the local farm boy who was our guide brought up the Chinese. He hated them. He went on to explain how they would damage the cave and take things they were not supposed to touch. An older Namibian gentleman who was with us told us that 60 years ago his grandmother warned him of the "yellow danger" coming to Africa. How prophetic she was.

Just got this notice from the company we are going to the inaugural Volcano Marathon in Iceland this July.

Husband did the Great Wall Marathon with them in May 2017, it is a pretty big event over there. Surprised it is already being cancelled. The event is still three months away.

The Great Wall Marathon 2020 Cancellation

The safety of our runners is our top priority. We have thus decided, in coordination with our local partners in China, that it is in everyone's best interest to cancel The Great Wall Marathon 2020 due to the situation with COVID-19, the novel coronavirus.

We are deeply saddened to make this decision, but due to the World Health Organization's declaration of a Public Health Emergency of International Concern and resulting travel restrictions imposed by many countries, we believe that the right course of action is to cancel for this year.

We offer a heartfelt apology for any ensuing disappointment – we are equally disappointed, but we hope to see you at one of our other races in 2020 or back in China in 2021.

If you have already booked, you should have received a separate email detailing your options.

Best regards,
Albatros Adventure Marathons

Not necessarily, a reduction in frequency will balance the books.

Excellent article in nytimes about impact on Europe via no tourist.

Apple just announced revenue and earnings impact.

China matters regardless of what biased views people have against the Chinese.
