I know the Rem. 700 is the dreaded push-feed, but I have used the .375 version on two or more buffalo (I forget), including my best buff, but have found it a joy to carry at 7 lbs, and has surprisingly mild recoil. This might be due to the stock material, stock design...I don't know.
And I read all these horror stories, off and on here, of its horrendous recoil, etc. I just haven't experienced it.
I've got a custom shop lightweight 8mm mag that is quite accurate. It weighs about 8 lbs and has a very fast recoil. It stings a little with a t-shirt on...my Sako 375 H&H has less recoil but weighs more too. No fault of the rifle as any 8 lb medium will recoil a bit.

I've used a few on pack trips into the Wind River Range, of Wyoming. Not a damn thing wrong with them. Easy to pack, good barrels, good triggers and trouble free. Almost bought the Custom Shop S.S. Synthetic in .416 Rem a while back but got a super deal on a Model 70 at the last minute.
I have successfully used my 10 year old KS Mountain in 375 H&H on elk in the Colorado very high country (12,000+ ft elevation). A joy to carry at 7 1/2# scoped and ready to go, very accurate and proven deadly with the 260 gr Partition at 2800 fps. Not sure what the new ones are like and I really like controlled feed these days but that KS has just worked well.

Will, I used one on a 1991 safari in Ethiopia. It weighed in at around 7 1/2 lbs with a 2 X 7 Vari XII on it. I had it magnaported and added a Pachmayer Decelerator pad. It was quite manageable. I first used it in the Gibat area for a Giant Forest Hog. Later, in Maze' I shot a lioness on a cull hunt (probably the only cat there!). It also accounted for Abyssinian Bushbuck and Warthog there. Later , in the Omo I used it for a 200 + yard shot at a 15 1/2" Gerenuk and also took a lesser kudu with it. I found myself picking it up every morning instead of my .30-06. Somewhere along the line after I returned home I sold the thing. It just didn't look right in the gun cabinent with all of those walnut stocks surrounding it. Call me RAY! Rich Elliott

I have one in .270 winchester -- carried for a goat last year. It's scary accurate. I get it to CONSISTENTLY group less than an inch, I have a couple three 5-shot groups that I can cover with a penny.
for all those interested, Boondock Sporting goods in Eagle River Alaska will be having a remington sale in May. Rumor has it that ALL the custom shop guns will be available at COST, plus a little for shipping, etc. I know I saved about $400 on mine last year.
