Anyone know where to find African game targets? They don't have to be 3-D or anything, but close to life-size would be nice. Why is it that I can find chicken targets and not impala? How many people actually shoot chickens? Anyway, I did a search on the forum and found several posts saying people used them, but no reference as to where they got them. Thanks | ||

I know exactly what you want, I get them to help clients get accustomed to shooting at some animals. I know there are springbok, warthog and impala available from time to time. I actually make them myself. I download a suitable pic from the net & then load it into a program & color print it. I can only get to a 36"X60" print but that's big enough for practice. LIFE IS NOT A SPECTATOR'S SPORT! | |||

I've used the targets from Finnwood for two years for Big Game Shoots and Varmint shoots at my club. They are easey to work with and reputable. The targets are not full size, maybe 25% smaller on the impala. I purchased the impala, the zebra and one other for practice. I use a piece of clear overhead projection film to cover the vital zones so I can reuse the target without using "pasters" and losing the definition of the target. I've been using the targets to get ready for Namibia in late July(my first time in Africa). The North American animals are really good for practice too. | |||

Here's my tip... Download some pics from the 'net of the animals you'd like targets of. Borrow or rent a digital projector. Project images on to large piece of cardboard or 1/4" plywood. Adjust distance of projector, or zoom on screen to get the image about the size of real animal. Trace outside of image with a felt pen. You can cut the "silouhette" out or just use the full sheet.
