JCN,

I used a 26" barrel on my Ruger stainless-POS rifle with a Shilen N0.4, 1:14" twist. It easily gets 2400 fps with 400 grain bullets.

No feeding or ejection problems with mine. It would make a fine African Sheep Rifle too. 2700 fps with the pointy 300 grain varmint bullets.

Steel floor plates are available to replace the aluminum alloy ones that come on some of the Ruger 77 Mark II's. Notice that some of the stainless Ruger 77 Mark II's come with steel from the factory, some with alloy floorplates.

RIP,
Did you build your Taylor on a Ruger?
Do you have trouble with the empties just dribbling out?
What do you think about a 21" barrel for a 416 Taylor?
Ghost ring rear, and Ashley big dot up front?

Thinking about making up a .416 Taylor. Anyone know of a source of headstamped brass?

Anyone making the cases from .458 brass? How difficult is it?

Any info from all you Taylor fans would be appreciated.

Quality Cartridge has it.

It is almost identical to what you get when you neck down the Remington .458 Win brass, weighs the same, but has the correct headstamp.

The .416 Taylor is just about the easiest Wildcat to load for in existance. One easy step to neck down the .458 brass and you are ready for max loads.
