I've heard yea's and nay's. What is the general consensus here?

I use it, but it will foam up into the gas tube, so it is essential that you blow the tube out when finished. This is a good idea when cleaning an AR15 anyway. Buy one of the compressed air cans like you use to clean electronics, when finished, blow the air down the gas tube frome the receiver end to be sure it won't be clogged. It will cause a problem eventually if you don't..

I've been using Wipe Out for at least 5 years on my AR. Thousands of rounds per year down the tube and I've never once cleaned the gas tube.

Don't worry about it. 55,000 psi of fiery hot gas cleans the gas tube far better than any measly bit of compressed air you can come up with.
