Does anyone know is it possible to take a standard M1A with a 22 inch barrel, and add a bracket to mount a long eye relief pistol scope to it? This would in effect make a scout squad model with a longer barrel. Has anyone seen a conversion of this sort? Does an aftermarket accessory exist out there to convert the stock on the standard to allow the mounting of a scope such as this?

I seen forward mounted scopes on the M1A there mounts out there. Check Brownells, B Square, Ultimack makes them surrpose to be the best. Springfeild also makes one.

Fulton Armory offers what you are looking for, but as of recent date their web site is down due to extreme activity. May well be up now, but as mentioned, the M14 forum is a good place to start.
