Does anyone know is it possible to take a standard M1A with a 22 inch barrel, and add a bracket to mount a long eye relief pistol scope to it? This would in effect make a scout squad model with a longer barrel. Has anyone seen a conversion of this sort? Does an aftermarket accessory exist out there to convert the stock on the standard to allow the mounting of a scope such as this?

I seen forward mounted scopes on the M1A there mounts out there. Check Brownells, B Square,

Ultimack makes them surrpose to be the best.

Springfeild also makes one.
