You have never seen any kind of combat, you come back and tell me how you feel about your m4 after you've tried to stop a man with an AK-47 from killing you. I'm not talking about some punk ass arab spraying bullets in your general direction, I'm talking about a man hell bent on killing YOU, firing his weapon directly at YOU, You try that, son. Someday the cold hand of reality is going to slap you across the mouth, and arrogent pukes like you are most likely not going to live through it. It's a tragic situation when dumb-ass kids are incapable of learning anything because they think they know everything already. You remember what I've told you.

I'm impressed rotflmo

Wow Terry, you're younger than I thought. Now I see why you're so fascinated with AR15's.

I will come back in one piece but I will take the advice from the Soldiers around me and the Sr's as well.. .Not you, I have no idea what your background is and I really don't care, but from some of your jarging you use I suspect you were/are in the USMC... Just because someone buys a certain weapon ie YOU and YOUR SOCOM all of the sudden it is the best thing ever... Hell I have Dodge 2500 with a Cummings but you don't see me running around telling people thier Ford or Chevy deisels are pieces of shit...

Wow!! With you keen insight and expertise into weapon systems and development (not to mention your expertise with the English language) you need to report to NATICK ASAP. Quick! Your country calls!

Ditch, I don't get it! If the M-14 systems are superior to the AR-10/M-16 type systems, why are the Marines issuing Mk11s and Mk12s?!!!! bewildered

Some folks are stuck in "the good ol' days"! Wink

I notice you avoided answering the "uncomfortable" question about the Marines issuing Mk 11s and Mk 12s...... but at least you admitted you are stuck in a retro time warp!

I do not know if you can call it "Dumping" or just movint on...

Rumour is the Army is going to the Knight SR25 as their new Sniper Rifle..

The Marines being die hard Bolt rifle guys, have used the M 14 for Speciality stuff, as have the SEALS.

With the current trend toward "commonality" I would not be suprised to see the Knight be the 308 General Purpose Sniper Rifle, service wide, with some 308 Bolt guns for Special purposes..

With 300 Mag, 338 LAPUA, and 50 BMG Rifles used for Special Puropses as well...

The current fricas in the Sand Box is very SPEC OPS heavy compaired to former wars, so there is a lot of "toy" testing/use going on, as SPEC OPS Troops can get just about anything they want... Which is a good thing.

Okay kid, a few things come into play here, but first I'll let you in on a little secret that 95 percent of the world already knows; just because the government does something, that doesn't automatically make it right. The M14 ain't broke, so why fix it? All they have is leftovers and some SEI builds and M14's are expensive to build. The government is looking at weapon familiarity and the lowest bidder, if it costs them less money, they'll buy it. I would imagine, and this pure speculation, that marksmen would blend in a little better with the SR25 than with an M14 also. If it's as reliable as an M14, it should be a good rifle, that is if they can find some men to carry it.

Sadly ditch is correct. The Military does not always get what is Best...

However SPEC OPS, many times can buy just what they want, or get what they want, that is in Govt "stock"...

Some of these "items" have been;
Modified, tooled up M 14's.
Wilson Custom 1911's in 45ACP.
Robar & Mcmillian 308 and 300 Win Mag Sniper Rifles.
"Some H&K 308 stuff"...
"SOME LAPUAS"...
Hasting [the Daisy] 50 BMG Sniper rifles.
The McMillian 50 BMG Sniper Rifle
The Barrett 50 BMG Sniper rifles.
Custom M 16's with match grade barrels/with "clip" on "silencers".
Some H&K other stuff...
ETC, ETC, ETC.

As a side note, I have never heard any of the "people" that are using the M 14 in the Sand Box, say ANYTHING bad about it.

Even after being "swimmed in".
They chose it for its reliability as well as its "distance"... There words, not mine...
