Guys: I have an AR lower from Seekins Precision. It is brand new (I've had it for a couple months, just started inserting lower parts kit). The lower has developed hundreds of very small white spots mostly on one side. It almost looks like white spray over-paint, except that I have not painted anything in my gun room, ever. The other thing is every speck is almost exactly the same size. Any thoughts what's going on here?? I may have to send back to Seekins, but I might just KG kote it. Has anyone applied KG on an AR lower? Thanks, Jordan

One thing you might try is to get a tooth brush and apply Break Free over the entire lower, inside and out, fairly thick. Let it set for a day, or so, and wipe it off and see if that makes a difference. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

I'd recommend Brownell's Aerosol Baking Lacquer. I've used KG "Gun Coat" and it works fine. But I prefer the Brownell's product. Plus you get a greater choice of colors.

I'm fond of Cerakote. I believe its the most durable out there. Brownell's sells it 2.

Cerakote is the way to go IF you have an HVLP gun and air compressor.

Having the means to apply the coating material is only part of the problem. Perhaps even more important is surface preparation ... the makers of BOTH CeraKote and GunKote recommend that the surface be prepped with abt 120 grit aluminum oxide blasting medium. The KG folks mean it ... GunKote does not stick to aluminum that has been shot with glass beads. Amelon Firearms Coatings applies CeraKote and has a good reputation: http://www.amelonfirearms.com/ Mike -------------- DRSS, Womper's Club, NRA Life Member/Charter Member NRA Golden Eagles ... Gunkote needs only a thorough degreasing. I think the same applies for Cerkote unless you are re-doing a previously applied coat of Cerakote.

If you have white spots coming through you have a finish problem and need to send it back.
