German Military 7.62mm/308 ammo uses a 147gr bullet, +or- standard manufacturiing variations.

I have also found that 165/168gr bullets shoot very good in a H&K 91 as well.

I have shot a lot of game with a 91 using a 165 gr Sierra HPBT Gameking over 39.5gr of IMR 3031, in a US military case or a Federal Match case. I have also used rthis same load in a 91 with the Sierra 168Matchking, 165 Nosler Partition, 165 Nosler Solid Base, and the 165 Nosler Ballsitic Tip.

With the 150gr Nosler Solid Base bullets I found 42 gr of IMR 3031 hits the same place as military ball in most 91's.

I have never had any problems shooting standard lead SP ammo in a 91.

Federal factory 150gr Ballistic Tip, and 150gr Federal X bullets shoot good in a 91 as well.

Military rounds are FMJ but for a soft point the Rem 150gn PSPCL (protected soft point core lokt) work well. Some HK91 can bend lead bullet tips during feeding badly and the protected tips keep their shape. Reasonably priced and pretty accurate bullets. The fluted chambers sometimes have problems with soft commercial 308 brass so military 7.62x51 brass is recommended.

165 TTSXs & 165 A-Frames shoot best in my Scar 308. Nosler Partitions don't group well for me, but those Swift's are pretty good, right at an inch with a 16 inch barrel.
