Wendell ReichSBR Approved!
I did the eforms BATFE online application for a SBR (Form 1) and got the email that it was approved.
Do they send you paperwork in the mail? How long does that take?
Do you have to carry proof with the gun that you can own a SBR?

jeffeossogreat for you ..
ALWAYS have a copy of your paperwork with you -- ALWAYS --- might consider a copy folded up in the grip with a grip cap

Wendell ReichThanks! Yeah, figure a copy in my truck and one in my guncase. In the grip is a great idea!

jeffeossoIf you have a grip+cap i think that's a great place -- now, you may have some discussion and negotiations to retrieve .. but a great handy way to ALWAYS have a copy

zimbabweHave been thru it twice once for my SBR (Thompson M28) and once for my supressor. Both took forever it seemed. Here you have to go to Sheriffs Dept for fingerprints (the last time they had upgraded to digital and it was a snap) and to get the Sheriff to sign application. I had absolutely no problems other than the $200 each stamp cost and the time it vanished to the east for approval and issuance of the stamps. I had my approvals reduced and laminated in plastic and have copies in my car and in the cases for each one. The SBR cannot be taken out of state without permission and cannot even be left at a gunshop for repairs. They are picky about transport of them. No such problems with the suppressor.

Wendell ReichI still have yet to receive anything in the mail. So wondering from anyone out there who has done the online app, how long between notification and hard copy in my hand.
Ill post when I get it so others will have some idea of timing.

Sorry, I missed this. It took about 5 1/2 weeks for Form 1 done online.
Still have not received stamp. Approved on 11th, today is 30th. Still waiting.

Wendell ReichOk, well, I guess I wasn't paying attention. When they approve the SBR electronically, the Tax Stamp is attached to the email!
All this time I have been checking the mail for something official, and I had it all along.
Just FYI!

John GaltHeads-up regarding the question about submitting online via the mail. The only way to submit online is by creating a trust then submitting the form 1 with a copy of the trust and its articles. This is the best way to do it IMO, as the firearm can be possessed by anyone listed on the trust, it's much faster for approval and you don't have to trust the mail, paper forms, a check, etc. Enter, submit, pay via credit card, and wait. And wait. And wait.

Woodrow SSent paperwork for 2 SMG's in mid April 2015. First SMG was 3.5 months, the other SMG is now 5 months...but there was a small issue with paperwork so had to get it corrected first and send it back. I am expecting it very soon though.
