I bought a new Century Arms Galil ( the possible ban prodded me) and have a question relating to the sights. It has a flip up buckhorn like rear blade that has big holes in each side. They have a large hole,or recess,on the back side and a small hole that goes completely thru each of the large holes. It also has a flip up large front sight that also has the holes in it. Are these supposed to be night sights with some kind of relective substance in the recesses? Overall quality and finish seel to be above agerage for AK47's or whatever you would call these things. Incidentally does anyone know what magazine they take,it only came with one and I might as well get a couple more 30 rounders before they ban them too.

Your rifle had tritium sights at one time. On the kit your rifle was built off of they may have still been working and been removed. Mine still had them installed but they were burnt out. It's my understanding you aren't supposed to import tritium.

Standard Galil mags are unique to the Galil. IMI made 35 and 50 rds mags for 5.56mm rifles. The 50 is too long to use prone.

IMI made an adapter that allowed them to use M16 mags ... wish I had bought one!

CDNN sometimes had Galil mags.

Thanks for the information,I thought they must have been trituim and were removed when they were refinished. Seems to be a pretty good gun. Shoots ok and it's the first folder that I can actually get down on the sights on. I was afraid the Mags were proprietary and not something reasonable.

I really liked mine. A little heavy but very cool. I wish I still had it but limited funds required I sale it to purchase a different toy.

I just got mine and really like it. Functions flawlessly and accuracy is good for this type of rifle. I bought a 12 round mag from:
http://www.gunclips.net/gagunma.html
They also offer 30s.....

With a little bit of file work, it functions perfectly. I wanted the smaller mag for prone and bench work.

I'd like to figure out a way to mount a red dot sight.
