A H&K 91 is one of my favorite rifles.

If you can find one of the German Military surplus 4X Hendsolt scopes in the H&K mount, grab it up. They are great. S&B make the same looking scope as well, it is great quality too, but I have not seen any of them for a while.

I think the H&K mount will fit your reciever as well.

I've owned several hk 91's and 93's. they are cool guns but I always got rid of them because I reload and they trash brass with the fluted chambers.

Anymore I don't think there's such thing as the end all rifle. They all have their strengths and weaknesses.

I did a test once with an H&K 91.

I took 11 different kind of 308 cases, 10 were military headstamp the other was Federal factory.

They were reloaded and fired 10 times each.
After each firing I tumbled them and reloaded them full length with normal RCBS 308 dies.

I never had a failed case.

The hardest part of the test was finding the 11 cases after each firing. Big Grin

Good thinking! AR's are for varmint hunting, nothing more.

Good. Stock up on magazines and web gear to haul it around in and you'll be set.

Next, buy an FN FAL so you can find out which you like better!

Tex

I owned a couple of FN-FAL's, a regular and a Para.

They are great guns, but I just liked the H&K 91 much better.

It is one of my favorite rifle of all time.

I have even killed quite a few deer and antelope with one.

When it comes to choosing a rifle for "social" occasions, I'll take the L1A1/FAL any time.
I'll admit to a liking for the 18" barrel version though.

I would be sure that your front sling attachment does not travel back and interfere with the operating lever.

Try to find a factory H&K web sling.

They work very good.

Excellent.

Have you ever thought about getting the H&K 22LR conversion unit?

I have had one for 30 years, shot it today at a turtle in the pond. Big Grin

They are very accurate and very reliable.

Once installed you set your rear sight for 400 yards and the 22lr is on at 100 yards.

They are kinda pricey, but if you shoot it a lot it will pay for itself in ammo costs.

And also you can shoot it some places that you cannot shoot a 308.

Also let me add than I have never seen a H&K 91 that did not function with civilian Soft point hunting loads, 150gr, 165/168, or 180gr. bullets.

I have an ammo can full of 150 grain BTHP's loaded into 7.62mm military cases which were fired in a long throated M60 medium machine gun.

The only rifle that will shoot them is my G3.

FN, M1a, and no bolt gun will tolerate the case length.

G3's/HK91's eat garbage. Nothing like it.

I do prefer my FN, but keep the HK just for cleaning up the reloading room!

Excellent Zombie killer and youve got the ammo cans all ready!

Hmmmm. HK91/G3 clone or CETME? From the pics, it looks like the rear sight is CETME and the muzzle brake looks like the ones CAI used on CETMEs. Either way, nice zombie skull splitter Cool !

I do believe it is a cetme, looking at the pics has a cetme rear sight and if you notice the fire controls fire is up and safe is down.
