Relative brought this 308 win SCAR up to my house, used it bear hunting. We sighted it in and I was quite impressed. Sub moa and gun just fits the body so smooth with 2 point sling. I often hunt off 4 wheeler & snowmachine and how a gun sits against one's upper torso is a comfort factor.

I have a AR-10 Armalite 338 fed and several ARs in various calibers and the SCAR felt better on me than any other AR I own; sweet gun to hunt moose, caribou, and bear with.

The mail order place in Kentucky has a few in stock for 3K. I called my gun guy and he's getting me one for $2700. Said he would have it in 3 months, way before election, and I'm throwing some money down this week when we drive into town for supplies; make a few payments before he gets it in. Maybe I'll have it for this years hunting season, that would sure be the ticket.

Have you all seen or shot any of these yet?

Looks good. How much of the gun is polymer, vs some kind of metal?

Nice rifle - mine was on order three months ago. Should be in some time soon.

I was looking at the new leupold 1x8 with an illuminated reticle. Best of both worlds- tactical scope and hunting scope.

We live rural, have to drive 200 miles to get to a town with small gun shop, where I get the best deals. Gun shop is half way to Fairbanks so I always take a break there and got to pick up a Kimber I bought over a month back and put some money down on the SCAR-H. I never checked about barrel length, hope they make it in 16 inch, but I'd take 18 or 20 just as quick. I have an Armalite 338 fed and it has 21 inch barrel, have to watch when riding narrow trails on 4 wheeler. I really like that SCAR and how comfortable it fits when riding.

I hear the mags are one of a kind, so probably pricey. I only need a 10 & 20 rounder; I luv hunting with AR's here in Alaska.

I just got a scar 17 two weeks ago. I have never been more inpressed with a out of the box battle rifle. I got one in black with two spare mags and a nice case for $3100.00

The first chance to make the range included a full day of rain, but I went anyway. I fired 110 gr commerical reloads , 147 gr milt ball, 147 gr winchester white box, 168 gr gold medal match, and some 20 year old 200 gr round nose. 150 rounds and not a hic up. Everything feed and ejected. I got the irons set up real quick and clay pigeons, beer cans ,and little pieces of wood started flying off the 100 yard berm (all shots were off hand with more hits than misses). Aim point- same results but faster, 1.5-6 weaver- not so good It may not be holding zero more testing required.

My iron sights, and aimpoint were shooting the same or tighter.

The factory trigger was ok off hand, but on the bench the trigger was a real distraction. The sear engagement was deep enough to hide a body and it was real heavy. It was gritty and inconsistant. some stoneing, polishing, and cliping 2 coils of the hammer spring. , I had a very clean (no creep) break, its a little heavier than I like but useable. The parts may be a little soft, not sure how long the trigger will last. There will be a timmney installed when funds permit.

The rifle fit well, the controls were the same as a AR plateform, it was much lighter than my bushmaster, Accuracy was good to exellent. The shooting impression was that it was a fast, quick to aim and a very soft recoiling rifle, It shot as fast as most 223 ar's. The factory muzzel break works well, but is a little loud.

The reciever is plastic but fit finish is very good and is much tighter than most AR's. The stock and mount is plastic but should not be a problem. Soon there will be after market enhanced recievers and mounts avaible made out of metal (already in the works).

I will be doing some more accuracy work with the improved trigger, and check out the scope to see if there is a problem.

Well, finally got my Scar. Local gun shop couldn't get one and he tried, usually gets everything I want and for a decent price. Anyway, Buds didn't have one, but Gun Gallery in Jacksonville Fla did, $2660; Neil the manager was real good about everything, I'd buy another gun from him again, satisfied. He said he'd send it early Thurs and it was in Fairbanks on Friday morn. I drove down the Taylor 200 miles to pick it up before road closed for the winter.

Mine is the earth brown model. Real tight and completely happy, though I haven't fired it yet, need to get a good scope. Scar weighed 8.5 lbs, my 6.8 stag is 7.5 lbs; my 338 AR-10 armalite is like an M-14 so Scar feels good.

Probably get another Acog 3.5X35 red dot horse shoe; but considering a leupold or nightforce.

Glad I got the Scar before election, just the same.

The stock and lower receiver are plastic. Aside from one small part or two, the rest is aluminum and steel. The bolt carrier is quite heavy and really tames the recoil. Mine had an atrocious trigger, it is getting better with use.

I've bought maybe eight guns from Gun Gallery. Three cans. Going to buy a couple of more in the next couple of weeks.
