anybody have the smith and wesson 545 AR
is it accurate and how gummy does it get w corrosive ammo

I have one and it shoots great with Bulgarian surplus ammo. I can shoot MOA groups with a red dot sight. The ammo is dirty though. While I have been told it's corrosive it's proven to me to be a non-issue. I read somewhere that if you where concerned about the ammo you could simply fire some non corrosive ammo like Wolf before you put it away and would klean most of the old residue out.

Consider this, if you compare the price of 3000rnds of 5.45X39 ammo vs. 3000rnds of .556 ammo you can save enough money to pay cash for the rifle and you'll still be ahead!

I've been very happy with mine. The fun of shooting cheap ammo like an AK-47 but the precision of an AR-15. It's truly the best of both worlds.

And the bullet is designed to really do damage on impact-- much more so than the 55-grain or 62-grain FMJ used in the 5.56mmNATO. Them Russkis know how to do it. Why don't we have one like it for our troops?

i was hitting a steel man sized target with mine with iron sights at 300 yds.

I run a few rounds of non corrosive ammo and spray everything down with Ballistol.

STAG/CMT did a really nice job training S&W on how to build a AR. Still not LMT, NOVESKE, or COLT.

Assholeideness aside. Make sure to check the staking on the bolt carrier group. If its not right it may begin to wiggle loose a bit after a few thousand rounds.

Also, if its a collaps. stock seriuosly consider $18 for a heavier weight buffer spring. I use "H" or "H1" in most of mine.
