I've been thinking about a .223, like the looks of the Elite. Any issues I should know about? Reviews? Are they generally sub MOA?

Mine has been a joy. All it needed was a good trigger.

Tigger, I understand the Colt triggers can be problematic to upgrade due to the size of the pins. With what did you replace yours?

Three of my friends have had the Elite.

All of them shot very good.

I used Timneys in two Colts; one was an early SP1 and the installation was almost as simple as a Remington 700 trigger. The Elite was a later Colt with the hardened steel block insert to prevent full auto parts installation.

That one was a different story in that the block has to be removed, milled to clear the trigger assembly and reinstalled. I don't know if that applies to other "drop-in" trigger assemblies.

But the trigger is nice and comparatively reasonable as it requires no tweaking, just installation.

The pins size itself isn't problematic, there are only two of them. All of the aftermarket triggers come with either pin size. The Timney assembly has two set screws which bear on the trigger pin to secure it. It's simple and effective.

I own 2 of them and have had nothing but exceptional luck with them

I took a screenshot of your group, Sako, printed it and scaled it. You shot, for all intents and purposes, a 1.00" group-- from 400-plus yards. That is eyes-bugging-out accuracy. I am super-impressed. Just awesome...

My freind has one of the first ones that came out its a half inch gun with good ammo. It a good p dog gun but one tends to go through more ammo then with a bolt gun

Bought one in 1989, my best AR 15 ever. A pure joy with Swiss made 63 grains ammo and handloaded Sierra MK 69 grains ammo.

I figured it at about .184 MOA, and was amazed myself. I always considered it to be an easy 1/2 MOA rifle and occasionally a 3/8's with the 69 MK's and VV 135, but that was an exceptional effort!
