An old friend has decided to sell some guns. He has a drilling, O.G. Scherell, Berlin, Suhl, manufacturer, hamerless, engraved with hunting scenes, very nice condition. Does anyons have an idea of its value? Where would be a good place to sell it? I have some digital photos I took today.

Dozer. Need lots more information, like boxlock or sidelock, caliber/gauge and chamber length, quality of wood and engraving, etc. One suggestion: Go to Gunshop.com's discussion board, post a complete description including the proof marks and the photos. There are a number of German gun fans who hang out there and they should be able to give you a fair estimate. I'd list the gun on the Gunshop.com for sale site ($10 to the owner of the site if you sell) and on Gunsamerica. I might also try one of the auction sites, but drillings are a hard sell.

Welcome to the forum Dozer. Post the pictures here if you can. If not you can email them to me and if they are the right size I will try.

As said before it's the details that count. Some might want that gun just for it's intrinsic qualities and others might be fussy about it's barrel length or some other detail.

I will call my friend and get the gun back. When I have it, I'll check out the details a bit more closely and repost. Thanks for the replys.

The following is what I could read on the frame and barrels:

Frame rails:
Left side: 1159
Right side: Shield with fine lines around the outside, crown, U

Barrels:
Left: crown, S, Nitro
Right: crown, Nitro
Top of both barrels: O.G. Scherell, Berlin W. -- Suhl I./TH.
(in a circle with a dot in the center):
KRUPT.THU(OR W ?)LN.
Rifle:
Left side: crown, K.m.G., N 13 gr (? a little hard to read)
Right side: HS
Bottom: 2, S, shield as above on frame, crown, U, 9.3mm, 72

I did not clean and check the bores. They are not terribly pitted but there is a fair amount. None
appears very deep.
Gene said he has had the gun for 50 years. His Uncle brought it back from
South Africa.

A picture would say a thousand words.

From the above data I don't see the shotgun barrel data. Usually it's the gauge and chamber length in millimeters.

For photos, I have posted them on my web site, go down the opening page to "sale items".
www.castingstuff.com I do have more photos, but these show the metal work.
