Bought a Remington 40X rimfire cmp gun. Used it to shoot rimfire benchrest last year and wond the league season championship with. a friend was so impressed with the way my 40X shot he bought a 40X cmp rifle a few weeks ago. His 4oX also is a shooter. However the two rifles look very different. Mine has a barrel with a Remington varmint taper, adn his has a heavier barrel that is the taper that is now used on the centerfire 40X. His has an adl style triger guard adn mine looks like the old Remington 722 trigerguard. I believe that my rifles is much older then his. Anyone out there know much about the Remington 40X rimfire rifles and the verations there of. Would like to hear what you know. I'm aware that Remington produced a 40X sporter, but the cmp rifles are both very different and are both stamped on the action US 22 LONG RIFLE. Both cmp rifles have Remington stampings on the barrel. The one my friend has also has a parkerized finish and mine is bright blued.Hope that some one out there knows what's up with these rifles.
