Does anyone have any info on this rifle. I know it was made in Cobourg Ontario, and in small lettering it has "winchester western" below the Cooey Model #71. Thanks

A cheapened-up licensed copy of a Winchester M-70, iirc. Believe I've got the same Model 71 (stripped barreled action only) in cal .225 Win. These were a utility-grade, no-frills trapper's rifle from the '60's if memory serves. Nothing at all to write home about. The stock on mine cracked long ago & have kept it's earthly remains around for a future project/barrel donor. Did ya know: Their actions weren't blued ?? Mine WAS painted ! (It's now ITW - 'cuz the previous owner dunked it into a solvent bath & the black paint softened/melted away). Kinda fries the ol' hide, eh ??
