Jeeze shootaway--thanks!! I was having problems figuring that one out by myself Does anyone know specifically what muzzle loaders? Were they the same as the Americans were using at the time. Were they English/French made. What was a popular caliber. Etc.

Just read an article on this subjec in an ancient Rifleman magazine. The generic name for these things is Northwest guns and they are rare, according to the article. They were not of the best quality, built by the lowest tender for the fur trading companies. Their life expectancy was given as 3 or 4 years, mostly because their native owners abused them and then turned the remnants into orher handy things. If their owner expired before his trusty fusil, they buried it with him.
