Given the description and images of this pair of Gold Labels, as well as the possibility that Gold Labels may not be available again for a long time, what do you make of the asking price? Do you think that the price will appreciate substantially if the guns are kept unfired?

I don't think that they will appreciate any substantial amount and at that price I think you might be hard pressed to ever get even close to your money back out of them. 2 Gold Labels will run you about $4000 add a small amount for consecutive serial number and I can't see anywhere close to $11,500 worth of engraving!

The fellow at the shop says that the exhibition grade claro walnut, with the figure for each stock matching that of the other, would run about $1000 apiece. The engraving is said to be about $2800 apiece. Then there is the premium for the sequential serial numbers and the top levers engraved "1" and "2".

The price doesn't seem outlandish when one sees on the Ruger website the Studio gallery lists one engraved Gold Label for $7300:
