Try a internet search for "The Horse Soldier" It is in Gettysburg PA The guys their are very knowlegable and a few are Park Guides for the battlefield.

Are you sure the bore is Octagonal (8 sided) or hexagonal (6 sided). Whitworth rifled muskets (hexagonal) were imported by the Confederacy from England. I would do some research in that area too. Parker Hale reproduced them for reenactors. I'll see what I can dig up too.
