Recently I bought a Savage 720 12ga shotgun

The SN is 12xxx. Anyone have an approximate date of manufacture?

It's been reconditioned and altered from it's original configuration.
I don't know anything about it before I bought it.

If you get a hold of a browning book it will give you an idea when the savage and Remington M11 came into production. If I recall it was 1946 to 1952 when the Belgium production/exportation of the A5 was shut down, Browning gave permission for Savage and remington to manufacture them for US purchase. Belgium restarted production /shipment after 1952 so it was the end of the Savage/remington look alikes
