Friend of mine is a third generation German cattle rancher in central Namibia near Otavi. He recently picked up the rusted remains (the barrel) of a blackpowder muzzleloader in a remote part of his property that he can't associate to any of him family over the past 100 years.

It appears to be a smoothbore and was percussion. It was about 16 gauge and about 26" inches long. The way the key slots (I think that is what they were called) appear to be manufactured indicates to me that it was made in the 1870's.

Can anybody I.D. it from these photos?

Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.
