I have a 1953 standard model Winchester 70 in 270 cal. The stock that came with it has the metal butt plate with the litle beak at the top. Is this the correct stock and if not what is the correct configuration? Recoil pad or flat butt plate? If recoil pad, what type?

From your discription you have the correct steel butt plate that was found on the Model 70 from that era. The length of pull would be 13 1/2 inches.
