Think I'd want to be seeing the provenance on this pistol before bidding, Ha, Ha. Definitely not the pistol he carried when he surrendered to the Allies, but being an exceedingly vain guy, probably owned a bunch. Was lucky enough to see a similar Hitler PPK , when it was owned by Andy Wright. Just googled, he owned this pistol at one time as well. ![]() Grizz Indeed, no human being has yet lived under conditions which, considering the prevailing climates of the past, can be regarded as normal. So you would destroy a historical artifact, because you're repulsed? ![]()
|
One of Us |
It is not an artifact. It was an item owned by one of the world's worst criminals and deserves no recognition or value.
|

So you're ok with ISIS destroying "items" which were owned by individuals it determines were criminals, enemies, infidels, etc? What's next Yankees tearing down Civil War monuments to Southern soldiers?

Bill's a dyed in the wool socialist/Stalinist/progressive, he doesn't want to preserve history, he wants to rewrite it and admittedly, destroy it if he were able.

I can understand his point, but from multiple levels I thing you are wrong, Bill. Lots of the greatest art in the world was made for or commissioned by some of the worlds most repulsive despots. That particular piece is very well executed and done. I am not sure why the Nazi provenance makes it so much more valuable, but to me any war trophy has special value. It also, right or wrong will appreciate in value, as long as private ownership of firearms is permitted. If I had the money, I would buy it...and likely lock it up in a safe deposit box for 20 years or so, then sell it.

Doppel, you presume a great deal about someone you have never met, but then this is a sterling hallmark of a classic Internet troll and pot-stirrer. ![]() If I had an Isis flag, I'd pee on it then burn it. Assumptions not needed, all we have to do is read your idiotic posts. An ISIS flag? I'd have it dry cleaned, folded, hermetically sealed, and stored for later donation to a museum.

I have spent 20 years of my life in the military of this fine American nation. We found a treasure trove of gold plated Ak-47's in Afghanistan. They ended up at the Defense Intelligence Agency museum. I saw first hand the destruction of anything non-Islam in Iraq and Afghanistan. Some of this was built at the time of Alexander the Great, and was several thousand years old. I am with Doppelganger on this one. Political correctness shouldn't apply to history. In Canberra Australia, there is a museum of Aboriginal Art. The thing has some interesting work, some of it thousands of years old. Then we got to the political art section. It was vile, anti-white hate pieces that I was pretty shocked about. At first I though WTF is this shit? Then I remembered the bastards have a bit of a history with one another, and most Aboriginies would kill the entire population of Australia except for Colonel Sanders in a blink if they could today. Art and artifacts have a place in this world. Regardless of where they originated. I'd like to see some of Hitler's artwork. I have heard that some of it exist. He was supposed to be "ok" as an artist, but not exceptional. A couple of comics have done bits about Hitler struggling as an artist and going "I can't get dis tree like dat fucking Bob Ross bastard, time to kill the take over France!".

Same kind of crap going on in the good ole USA. Statues of Confederate Soldiers being torn down because some idiot is too lazy to study history and thinks that Slavery was the main reason for the Civil War. I grew up in Okla and still find it funny. No one seems to want to take the time to actually get the facts, not what some leftist newspaper tells you. Do I like what Hitler did...no! Do I think we need to destroy something because he or someone else owned it. Hell no...this type of thought just pushes the liberal thought - guns kill people (not the facts.... people kill people)

I am with Bill on this. I see nothing desirable in preserving/glorifying the items owned by that serial killer piece of shit. Shane

Along the same lines the other day on Tx. Gun Trader they were selling Charlie Whitman's sawed of 12G. for $12,500. (of UT. tower infamy). Probably will sell too.Now as a bit of a contradiction,I think that the guns of Bonnie + Clyde,John Dillenger,et. al.; should be in a museum (+ some are). This is history + that is rarely pretty;but destruction of historical artifacts is criminal. Not for personal jack off parties but for museums. Never mistake motion for action.

Yup, except that some pieces are better cared for in private collections, rather than in museums.

Blaming an object instead of the person using it is a common theme in the liberal political agenda. An object own by who ever is just what it is. It could be a gun, sword, diamond ring or what ever. The person who owned it was bad but doesn't make the object bad.

IIRC Goering liked and used a S & W M & P! .38, of course, might be w 5" bbl. And else he would most probably carry a PPK in 7.65. Not sure, just what Ive read, Hermann formerly, before software update, known as "aHunter", lost 1000 posts in a minute

I will say that the Luftwaffe passed an order that any British pilot that was shot down + found in possetion of Lead 200/38 in their S+W spls. (not 38 spl.)were to be executed on the spot. He had more value on that calibre than was warranted in my opinion. Never mistake motion for action.

Hermann had a house here in Denmark not far from where I live. He visited Denmark frequently for hunting and leasure. There is a backery in CPH that that has nicknamed a `Danish` after HG. Hermann was quit a personality. Of them all, of the dark evil cabinet of the 3rd Reich Hermann may have been 1 of them all one may could take conversation with about so many other things in life.
