I am interested in compiling information on Newton rifles to determine manufacturing variations. Either First or Second models. This is to share with other collectors and/or to publish.I can e-mail a questionnaire (that is mostly a checkoff system)to anyone who may be interested. You can return the page via e-mail or mail and without a return address of security is a problem. This is not an attempt to locate Newton rifles, only an attempt to list and sort options on the rifles or trends during manufacture. Thank you, Larry lakeside@racc2000.com

Larry, Are you familiar with the late Bruce M. Jennings and his book "Charles Newton-Father of High Velocity"?

Yes. I have been interested in Newtons for about 10 years and have a 28 item bibliography of Newton related books and articles and about 12 of the Newton catalogs. I would like to try to obtain info on individual rifles to see if I can put together a pattern of production variations and what standard and optional features were used and how often. Thanks for you reply, Larry

At one time, I had 45 Newton rifles in all models, but mostly First models. I've collected them, written about them, and shot them. What is it that you want to know? i have been away from them for about five years, but remember most of it. i still have two First model 256s, one a presentation gun and the other an Alaskan moose getter that has fancy wood and all the options. I liked this one especially and kept it.

I would be interested in anything you wrote about them and I am trying to compile information about Newton rifles in general. I have most of the common references and about a dozen of the catalogs. I think that much of the most important information that may not be known rests with collectors such as yourself. There seems to be conficting data in certain areas. I would like to search those areas with the idea of writing more accurate info in Newton and his rifles. Usually the rifles are what really tell the story and to know their production variations contributes much to what was made and/or imported and when. Thanks for your reply

I have a friend that had a newton stolen from his car Dec 2005. He reported the theft to the San Antonio police. I hope these guns are rare enough that someone who tries to move it will get caught. the bastard Lee
