Any ideas what an original South Gate Weatherby FN 300 Wea Mag, with original stock might be worth? I've found one with a 4 digit serial # that has metal at about 95%, except for the bottom metal, trigger guard and bolt handle, which show normal wear. Bore is in very good shape, no throat errosion. Stock should be replaced. 114-R10David

That pretty much takes it out of the collector category, meaning it is worth whatever someone who wants a decent Mauser barreled action, or shooter with a worn stock, is willing to pay. It would be in the hundreds, not in the thousands.

Weatherby used the FN Deluxe action between 1949-1963, including after the Mark V was introduced in 1958. Serial numbers range between 1400-10962. NRA Life Member, Band of Bubbas Charter Member, PGCA, DRSS. Shoot & hunt with vintage classics.
