1) A gray rat is "A gun in less than "collectable" condition. Usually categorized as such due to lack of ORIGINAL blue finish. i.e.: Gray.
2) "Blue Rats" (reblues)
3) Black Rats (Bake on finishes)
4) Cheese Rats (non original holes)
5) Freckled Rats (pitting/wide spread rust)
6) Wood Rat (non O.E. wood, added pads, chopped butts)
7) Studded Rat is a subspecies of the Wood rat that is not as harshly admonished as of late if American Indians are used as the excuse.
8) "Hybrid Rat" that is a mongrel mix of any of the "Rat" species."

I found a 1918 Sav 99 TD at the gun show Saturday.
It is now a gray rat.

The rat fink cartoon shown was associated with hot rod magazines in the 1960's.

Three more gray rats followed my home from the gunshow Saturday.
