I recently bought a pistol in an estate which seems to a an 1851 Navy. 7.5" bbl, case colored loading lever and hammer, silver plated brass frame,Naval battle scene engraved and signed by Ormsby on the cylinder. The barrel address is SamL Colt, New York. The deficit is the Serial # is 80xx and the data calls for the barrel wedge to be a brass screw under the wedge. The screw is over the wedge. The trigger guard is square backed like the Dragoon and it should be round according to my info. Do I have the real thing or a very good old fake? Did Colt use up parts when they were changing from one variant to another. Anything Worth Doing Is Worth Overdoing. | ||
