Gun is a 30-06 and all original, never had a scope on it. Never been 'smithed on.
Bore looks new, metal is great including sights and hood. Stock has original buttplate and studs, but has a couple of 2" x 1/8" wide x 1/8" deep gouges. They won't steam out as the wood is missing. All in all a clean, tight, unmolested shooter.
The pawn shop was asking $569 for it and I was kind of surprised when they accepted my offer of $500. Hell, I could part it out for $850 without trying hard.

Normally pawn shops would have an asking price of $799 on a gun like this one. I'd have to guess the 3 month old feeding frenzy on black guns has them a bit off their game on classic sporters.

Great find! From the sounds of it it would have been a steal at $800

Standard actions (270,30.06,etc.) alone are selling for around $600. Your buy was a good deal. Wait until middle of march and see what comes up. Tax man does come around soon.
