Wildcat Crazy,

W Richards of Liverpool are an old company that still exists and their website is http://www.wrichardsguns.co.uk/

You could e-mail them as they may have records of their old guns. They have been around since 1780 and have imported as well as made their own guns and no, the name is not a rip-off of Westley Richards.

Another source is a website of the British gun trade - they have their own forums but call them their "bulletin board" in typial British fashion. www.internetgunclub.com is a good source for information on new as well as old British guns. Some of the British companies ask for fancy prices if you ask for information from their archives and if you don't want to do that, you can register free on the site and get information from them.

Good hunting!

exposed hammers. It is marked W.H. Richards Belgium.
