I just got this 1909 carbine and it has an original sniper scope base on it. From what I have heard it takes a French SOM 3X30 scope.
I am just looking to find something to fit the base so I can put a scope on it.
Any info. would help.
Thanks

I would also like to see some photos. Carbine & sniper usually don't go together.

Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.

Hi SS,

All (100%) 1909 Argentine Mauser Sniper Rifles were made on the Long Rifle (74cm barrel). No one was original on the Cavalry Carbine. Anyway, the original scope mount was the rotary low base mount, for the Zeiss Zielvier scope made by the Zeiss subsidiary, Nedinsco. The Sniper Rifles useing the SOM scope and base were the former Sniper Rifle made on the 1891 Argentine Mauser. Not the 1909.

Regards

PH
