My daughter is now 35 but I did start her a collection when she was young. I went with fun guns, and someting small. The first 2 guns and the only ones she still has today are a Stevens Favorite in .25 Rimfire and a Hamilton .22. I think the lack of recoil and the cuteness of the weapons actually helped her as a child to accept shooting as a fun sport.
