yotecallerI need a date of manufacture for a Rem 700 ADL
From what I have come up with already I think my rifle was made in 1942 or 1964.The cerial number is C6289708 it is a short action 308 Win. There is a WI or a WL on the side of the barrel near the action.There is also a REP on the barrel near the action.Any help would be apreciated.Thanks in advance.

Grizzly AdamsHello;
1942 is out. the .308 didn't appear until the late fifties and I'm sure the 700 wasn't made till after the war.

TJ_2506I don't have my bluebook with me, but a section in the back provides what you're looking for. If I remember correctly, the barrel code (WI or WL)would indicate the month/year of manufacture. I can't remember if it's stamped when the barrel in manufactured or when the gun is assembled. Nevertheless, the month is based on the coding of B L A C K P O W D E R X, B being first month, X being twelth month. Therefore, W would mean your gun/barrel was manufactured in August, and the I or L will be your year code. Somebody out there look in the back of the Bluebook of Gun Values and fill in the blanks i've left here.
I suspect the L stands for 1964 based on your post. Good luck.

rick0311I have a 700 .308 with a "C629..." serial number and it was made in late 1988 so Remington gave you good info.
