Hello ,
I sorta inherited an old double action revolver. The barrel is about 3" long and octagon shaped. As far as I can tell it is a .32 caliber, cylinder chambers measure about .332 with a set of calipers. The finish is either nickel or chrome plated. The grips are black checkered plastic with a crown design on them. The only words on it are "THE AMERICAN DOUBLE ACTION" and some numbers under the grip. Any information would be appreciated.

RSG2, what you described sounds like a pocket revolver. They are sometimes called "suicide specials". I never figured out if that referred to their general use or what it was to trust your defense to a cheap pistol or that they might blow up in use. They were the RG, Davis, Raven, et.al. of 100 years ago. I advise customers to put them up as a keepsake and not shoot them.

Another good use is to take them to the next mis-guided gun buy-back near you and collect your $25.

Sorry to be the purveyor of bad news.
