I have in my possession a Gov't 1911 "Transition Model" with the 1911 slide and 1911A1 frame. Its in very good condition save for the fact that at some time someone scratched into the slide "JAKA GC 0464451" Whoever did the scratching used a sharp scribe and did the printing very neatly, not mickeymouse. I imagine "GC" stands for gun club, and this was part of some clubs inventory at one time or other. Maybe someone knows the real deal? Anyway, I'm interested in buying it from the owner and was wondering if anyone can give me an idea of a fair price to offer. Are these sought after by gov't model collectors. I'd like to have it as a shooter, but I'll take it as a collector, too. I can always just shoot my combat commander when I feel the itch.
