I'm looking to buy a new bow and it will probably be a Matthews. Any suggestions? I mostly hunt, so 3-d speed is not required. Looking for accuracy, easy to shoot and quiet. Been looking at the Ultra-2, Legacy, and FX2. Any feedback would be appreciated. I currently shoot a Martin Jaguar with Unimax cam.

go with a mathews the fx gives the most for the money. the lx i handled looks and feels awesome and the specs are up there. then again the fx is no slouch.

Thanks, my brother shoots a FX and he really likes it. The local shop owner really likes the Ultra 2 and Legacy. He said that I could shoot them all and then pick one. I just wanted to hear what you Mathews owners had to say.

I have owned 4 mathews -
ultra max
mq 32
fx
q2
I have also owned bear epic extreme 2 pse 1 jennings.
My favorite was the mq 32 for hunting.
Right now I shot the q2 for hunting and the pse thunderbolt with black/cherry riser for 3d.
The mq32's finish held up better also {old camo pattern} than on the q2.
Just my 2$

I don't know if you have any dealers in your area for Darton but they are a fine bow. I have shot a Darton Maverick for the past few years and love it in fact I selected it over the Mathews. I just think that you get allot more quality for the money with a Darton. They are extremely smooth and very easy to tune and are very quiet. Just one Okies Opinion. [Roll Eyes]

Justin B,
Your key words here are "I mostly hunt" in which case I highly recommend a Parker 31 Ultra-Lite. Last year I started hunting with a Mathews Legacy (which the dealers were pushing hard). Its a great shooting bow in the archery shop and on the 3-D range but for on-the-go hunting I found it way too heavy and clumsy. All set up with sights, rests, stabilizer, quiver and four arrows it weighed in at 6 1/2 lbs. My new Parker 31 Ultra-Lite with the same set up is only a little over 4 lbs. and 3 inches shorter!! I have been testing my new Parker 31 Ultra Lite the past few months at 20,30,40,50 and 60 yards and does it shoot!

Another Vote for Parker. Ive shot a couple of Mathews and they are fine bows. I just havent been able to justify the price. I picked up a used Parker Prem. mag for $300 and have been extremely pleased....but then again I'm partial to stuff made in VA!

I WORKED FOR SEVEN YEARS IN AN ARCHERY SHOP. IN DOING SO, I HAVE HAD EXPERIENCE HANDLING, SHOOTING, AND WORKING ON JUST ABOUT EVERY MAJOR BRAND OF BOW ON THE MARKET INCLUDING MATHEWS. MY PICK IS THE LINE FROM HOYT!!! MY BEST ADVICE IS TO GO TO A LOCAL PRO SHOP AND SHOOT THE VARIOS MODELS YOU ARE INTERESTED IN. THE ONE THAT FITS, FEELS, AND SHOOTS THE BEST FOR YOU SHOULD BE YOUR CHOICE.
