Well I may have to break down and try 3-D shooting. My club has a nice course. I am pretty sure I will need a range finder. Any recommendations?
Thanks, Peter.

I'm sure they've upgraded since then, but I have a Nikon Laser 440 and love it. It accurately reads from 13 to 437 yards on animals.

I see the same models on eBay for very little money. One I saw sold for $55.00!

The new Leupolds are tough to beat. A little higher priced, but small, light and ACCURATE.

Please give the cheap Bushnell Scouts a try...their 'target acquisition' is superior to Leupold in side-by-side tests. And that is the most important aspect, given that they are all accurate as hell. The angle/arc feature is of limited use at best. but to be able to get a reading quickly off a bush is important. I have gone back to the Scouts.

Well DAL you are a little late with your advice! However I had looked elsewhere and seen good reviews of the Nikon. Shof, I like it, but obviously I am not an expert and have not done any side by side comparisons. It has an auto on and auto off feature, plus the 6x eyepiece without turning the unit on is good. I wear glasses and the eyepiece works fine, focus wise, with the glasses on. Now though, can I hit the targets? Well sometimes!. This is my first time at 3D targets at various ranges and I did miss some (completely). I have a 3 pin sight and I ma having trouble holding "between the pins" on the kill zone of the target. More practice is called for.
Peter.

I have used the Nikon 440 since 2006 and I have yet to be disappointed by this handy little tool.

Peter,

You will enjoy using the Nikon.
