Tell us more, I think it is a damn fine deer.
Where hunted, how etc.
Congrats, I couldn't hit a house from the inside with a bow so i admire those who hunt this way.

I posted the story earlier, under "got one" All I can add is it was a 50 lb recurve, shot in the Calgary Alberta area. My first bow kill, it's not a monster but I like it.

Oh and when there is a nice deer there it's like shooting a gun at an animal you don't hear a thing!!!!

Chef: That's a buck to be proud of. Too bad about the meat, but you did good to find him.

I'll bet the old heart was pounding when he showed up!

Way to stick to it on the tracking!

Hello;
Nice buck. I assume the cape was not salvageable, but you could probably get one from a taxidermist, if you wanted to mount him. After all, it is your first. I've never even heard of any one getting lucky with a recurve. Congratulations.

Grizz I'm getting a Eupopean mount. I know a fella who carves the plaques-he's German and does Black Forest style carvings. I really love his carving so it will be the perfect thing for me. Personally I'm not too "into" stuffed heads. I may get one or two some day especially if I ever get a sheep. The wife prefers bleached skulls and European mounts...so if I want trophies around the house that's the way to go.

Chef,
Very nice!!

My first bow deer was with an old recurve too....30 years or so ago, but it was a mulie doe, not anything that nice. The mount will be beautiful when complete...please show us the results! Nice going!!

Hey Chef, let me say, that is a nice deer whether it is a first or 101st.

Recurve, first deer, buck, with ANTLERS/MASS. Fella, you should be proud.
