I've decided to take up Bow hunting but I have not picked up a bow since I was a kid. I'm looking at a Browning Avalanche II. Its priced 230.00 in a kit with sight and a few extras. ANy thoughts on this? Thanks for any input.

Set your price range and then shoot everything you can in that price and go with what feels the best. In a very short period of time, if you like it, you will be upgrading and spending a fortune on the new stuff. No sense in using up your cash now when you'll be wanting it later.

Its a great sport and I'm glad you have decided to join in.

I'm not a fan of Browning, but a "kit" is exactly the right thing for you. I'd also look at PSE. 2005 models are coming out now, so you may be able to get an older model new bow at discount, or find a used bow in the classifieds.
