I just bought a slightly used mathews mq1 from a friend of mine, my question is how to change draw length, it is set at 30 inches, which is about 3/4 inch too long for me. He said it can be changed without a bow press, but he didn't know how, anyone know?? Thanx.

You will need a bow press.
You can buy a 1/2" shorter string to shorten the length or you can put 5 or 6 more twists in the cable and string, or both to take up some length.

Thanks gsp I thought that I would but he was sure that I didn't. I have twisted the string on an older bow to shorten draw length, but wasn't sure if it would work on this one, I will try that thanks.

It works with mixed results on mathews bows. I also own a mq1 and ended up just trading for a shorter cam at my local shop. You can always go shorter in my opinion. I first started shooting a 28 inch cam and have sense traded down to a 25 inch cam.

I suggest just buying a new cam for it. That is the best way to correct the length.....I bought a 30" cam for my MQ1 on ebay for $25.....the proshop will charge much more, but you can trade in your cam.

I tried twisting the string down, but for some reason I can,t get it back on right. I put it back on exactly the way I took it off, or so I thought, but now the cable is in the way and wont let the cam rotate. I have tried to find a picture of how its supposed to go but can't, the nearest shop is about 50 miles from here, so I don't want to go there unless I have to. What have I done wrong???? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have done this in the past with several bows with no problem, but somehow I screwed up somewhere.
