Thanks, Wimpie and Doc.

Based on Wimpie's recommendation, I went back to the store today and tried out a Parker bow (Pheonix 34) and a PSE bow(Priomos). Due to my minimal experiences with bows, I couldn't discern much differences from another.

Now having read Doc's replies, I am planning to visit another dealer(the store I visited today did not carry Matthews) tomorrow to try Matthews bows along with Hoyt bows.

Again, thanks for your replies.

Good evening.

I have never hunted w/ bow before but am quite interested in getting started. I have been reading some books on the topic and now am looking into purchasing a bow.

Soooo, my question is which bow would you recommend?

I have heard and read good things about PSE, Matthews, etc. and today I saw a Parker "Hunter-Mag Outfitter" along with other bows. This particular dealer was pushing for the Parker bow set up. I am quite sure there will be a full spectrum of opinions but I would like to hear from this forum as to what you would recommend.

Thank you for your time and expertise in advance.

Hi
A bow is like a pare off golf clubs, you have to shoot a couple bows to see wich one fits and feels best. Do not buy a name but the one that you like most. Go to a bowshop and have a couple set up and shoot them. Have fun.

Hi YHC

Hope you enjoyed your bow seeking thus far. Please remember to shoot the differend models in each brand. Go to a archery competition if you can and talk to as many archers as posible. You will get many different views but in the end you will be better informed when you decide what to buy.
When going to a bowshop try different set-ups on the same bow. Hope you get the bow that fit you best and hope you shoot planty BULLS.

Regards

Wimpie (Sunny South Africa)
Its better to pass up a marginal shot than wounding an animal!

If your're going to shoot a compound keep it simple. Animals don't care how fast the arrow was going that killed them. Don't get yourself seduced into the speed & tech toy mentality. Find a long axle to axle bow with reasonable brace ht., use a simple rest & a 3 pin sight. You need to lean how to shoot, you don't need to learn how to be a "Bow Mechanic"...LOL.....also, get yourself two dozen carbon arrows with the correct spine for your bow.

If you decide to shoot a traditional bow, keep the draw wt. low so you can learn proper form...

Above all remember bowhunting and archery is ment to be FUN!!!

Good luck
