I just picked up a used recurve, and was wondering about the shelf rest. Is there any special way of fletching arrows so that the fletching does not hit the rest and send the arrow porpoising to the target? Maybe I need a beginners course in recurve shooting

model7LSS,
There are two points in shooting from the shelf:
1- Use feathers not vanes.
2- Spine have to be perfect.

If you follow this you would have minimum feather contact.

If you have much feather contact you can try "cock feather in".

Hope it helps
